Lock cores, master keys, and the release tool: what's what

Lista cabinets ship with one of three lock-core configurations, and you can swap cores in the field with the release tool. This page carries replacement parts for all three.

• Random-group keyed. Each lock has a different key from a large keyspace. Use when individual technicians own individual drawers and you want minimal key sharing.
• Keyed-alike. All locks in the group share one key. Use when one technician opens an entire bank of cabinets: fastest workflow, lowest key-management overhead.
• Master-keyed. Each cabinet has its own key, but a single master key opens all of them. Use for tool cribs where individual users have their own cabinet but the crib attendant needs access to everything.

The lock core release tool is the small tool you push into the face of the lock to release the core. Needed any time you swap a core or rekey. Keep one per shop.

The master key (cut) is the master in a master-keyed system. Order spares before you need them; turnaround on a new master key is the standard Lista lead time.
