What a Lista Workbench Costs

By Anthony Trinh, Charlie One LLC · Last updated: September 8, 2026

Search for Lista workbench pricing and you will find quote forms. Every one of them. Lista does not publish list pricing, dealers set their own delivered numbers, and the industry norm is to make you ask.

We publish ours. Here is what the benches we stock actually cost, and more usefully, which decisions move the number and which ones barely touch it.

The stocked range

All delivered to the contiguous 48, freight included. Ranges reflect the configuration options on that model.

Anything outside this list is a full-catalog configuration quoted per order, usually back within one business day.

What actually drives the price

1. The number of pedestals, by a wide margin

A pedestal is the drawer cabinet holding up the bench. Going from one pedestal to two is the single largest jump on the whole list, larger than any material or drawer choice. If you are trying to hit a number, this is the decision to look at first: one pedestal and a leg gets you a working bench with storage for meaningfully less than two pedestals.

2. The worksurface, which surprises people

Same bench, same footprint, three tops, three very different prices:

Top sizePlastic laminateButcher blockStainless steel
22 3/16″W × 28½″D$288$411$835
28¼″W × 22½″D$352$411$909
40¼″W × 22½″D$368$393$1,090
47″W × 28½″D$531$821Quoted
56½″W × 28½″D$581$856Quoted

Stainless runs roughly three times laminate on the same footprint. That is the right call in wet, chemical, food, or cleanroom work and an expensive habit anywhere else. Butcher block sits close to laminate and takes abuse better, which is why it is what most shops end up with.

3. Drawer count, which barely moves it

Within a given pedestal configuration, adding drawers is comparatively cheap. Across our dual-pedestal line, going from the two-drawer configuration to the ten-drawer configuration is a few hundred dollars, not a few thousand. The frame, the top, and the pedestals are the cost; the drawers inside them are close to incremental.

The practical advice that falls out of this: buy more drawers than you think you need. It is the cheapest part of the bench and the part you cannot easily add later.

4. Things that do not change the price much

Color is free, across bright blue, classic blue, and light gray. Lock type, keyed alike versus master keyed versus keyed different, does not change the price of a stocked unit either, so pick the one that fits how you will manage keys rather than the one you think is cheaper. Divider layouts are ordered separately and can be changed at any time.

The move that saves the most money

Use a drawer cabinet as the bench support. Lista housing heights are designed so a cabinet stands at bench-leg height, so instead of paying for legs and then buying storage separately, the cabinet is the leg. You get full-extension 440 lb drawers where empty air would be, and the surface lands exactly where it should.

Heights and which cabinet matches which bench height are covered in what height should your workbench be. Cabinet prices and footprints are on the dimensions page, and the tops that fit each footprint are in the same table.

Comparing quotes from different dealers

Three things to check, because they are where quotes stop being comparable:

  • Is freight included? On a steel bench it is not a rounding error. A lower price with freight added later is often the higher number.
  • Is it the same top? The table above shows why. A quote with a laminate top against one with stainless is not the same bench.
  • Is it stocked or made to order? Lead times differ substantially, and a quote that does not say which you are getting is not a complete quote.

If you have a quote from another authorized Lista dealer, send it over. We match delivered price on the same configuration, and if the other quote is genuinely the better deal we will tell you that too. More on how we work is on the authorized dealer page.

Common questions

How much does a Lista workbench cost?

Our stocked benches and workstations run roughly $1,650 to $5,200 delivered to the contiguous 48 with freight included, depending on the frame, the number of drawer pedestals, and the worksurface. Configured work centers such as the Nexus run higher, and full-catalog benches are quoted per order.

Why is there no Lista price list?

Lista sells through dealers and does not publish list pricing, so almost every Lista page online ends in a quote request. Dealers set their own delivered pricing, which is why the same bench can carry different numbers at different dealers and why delivered price is the only fair comparison.

What makes one Lista workbench cost more than another?

In order of impact: the number of drawer pedestals, then the worksurface material, then the drawer count. Adding a second pedestal is the single biggest jump. Stainless steel tops cost roughly three times the laminate top of the same size. Adding drawers within a pedestal is comparatively cheap.

Is a stainless steel worksurface worth it?

Only if you need it. On the same footprint, stainless runs about three times the price of plastic laminate. It earns that in wet, chemical, food, or cleanroom environments. For general assembly and repair work, laminate or butcher block does the job for a fraction of the cost.

Does the price include freight?

Every price we publish is delivered to the contiguous 48 with freight included. This matters more than it sounds: freight on a steel bench is a real number, so a lower list price with freight added on top is often the more expensive bench.

Can I use a drawer cabinet instead of bench legs?

Yes, and it is one of the most common configurations. A cabinet at the right housing height stands in for a leg set, so the bench surface lands where it should and you get full-extension drawers underneath instead of empty air.
