Lista kept its Swiss engineering roots in its measurements. Standard widths run 22 3/16 in, 28 1/4 in, 47 in, and 56 1/2 in at a 28 1/2 in depth, and the height families trace back to millimeter internals (a "900" cabinet gives you 900 mm of usable drawer space). Drawer heights step in fine metric increments, so a Lista stack can be tuned with unusual precision.

Vidmar thinks in inches from the ground up. The standard width is 30 in, joined by 22 1/2 in, a 45 in extra-wide, and a 60 in double-wide, at 27 3/4 in standard depth or 21 3/8 in shallow. Common heights are 33, 37, 44, and 59 in, and drawer heights come from Vidmar's model number system, where the drawer models in a stack add up to the housing height.

Matching an existing fleet? Then the decision is usually already made. The two footprints don't overlap and the drawers don't interchange, so you stay with what's on your floor.

Drawers and load ratings

Lista publishes 440 lb (200 kg) per drawer at 100 percent extension, riding steel bearings on the Z-bar profile that wraps under the drawer body. Vidmar publishes up to 400 lb (181 kg) on a ball-bearing carriage it guarantees against failure.

Read those numbers for what they are: both far beyond what most drawer contents will ever weigh. Facilities run both lines hard for decades. Unless you're storing dies, fixtures, or bar stock at the extreme end, capacity shouldn't drive the choice.

Both are configure-to-order, housing through drawer stack through the partitions and dividers inside every drawer, plus lock and paint. The flavor differs:
